How can I reset my Orbi RBK50 router?

Netgear Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi system is one of the most popular devices which come with its unique and incredible features. With the Orbi Wi-Fi system, you can enjoy internet connectivity in every corner of your house or office. But sometimes, Orbi routers create some issues while the Orbilogin process. The issues may be related to dropping connections, Orbi is not responding or unable to connect, etc. Also, you cannot perform Orbi security changes if you have forgotten your Orbilogin.com credentials i.e. your default username and the password. If you are facing the same issues, you will have to perform a reset of your Orbi RBK50 router.

NOTE- Performing Orbi router reset will erase all its personalized configure settings and will be saved to the default factory settings. It will change the network SSID name (username) and security passphrase key to default. Internet/Wireless settings will need to configure again.

Access to the User Interface:

Before proceeding with the steps to be followed for a reset of your router, you have to understand how to access the user interface of your router. Accessing your user interface is necessary when you want to change the configurations of your router. For the Netgear Orbi RBK50 router, you have to follow the below steps for access:

  • Switch on the Orbi Router.
  • Connect your device to the router via Wi-Fi or a network cable.
  • Open a web browser.
  • Enter IP Address or URL (i.e.https://orbilogin.com or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) in the address bar of the browser.
  • Enter your default Orbi default password and username and press Enter.
  • You will be able to access your router’s admin panel.

Resetting your Orbi router is a very simple process if followed with utmost care. Your Orbi router can reset by two methods:

  • Netgear Orbi RBK50 router reset with button.
  • Reset via Web-Based Configuration utility.

You can opt for any of the above methods to perform a reset on your Orbi RBK50 router. Let us discuss these methods step-by-step:

Netgear Orbi RBK50 reset with button-

This is the easiest and most commonly used way to reset your Netgear Orbi RBK50 router. All the routers have this reset button located on their body. The reset process will delete all the settings made by you on your device. It includes DNS details, Wi-Fi passwords, and IP Addresses, etc. Follow the below-mentioned methods for resetting your router using the Reset button:

  • Method 1:
  • First of all, make sure that your router is turned on and connected to a power source.
  • Find out the round-shaped Reset button on the back or bottom of your router.
  • Press and hold the Reset button for a few seconds with the help of a paperclip or pin.
  • The router will get restarted and it will take few minutes to complete the process.
  • Method 2:
  • First, verify whether your router is turned on or not. You should plug it into a power outlet.
  • Locate the buttons on the router side labeled wireless and WPS.
  • Press and hold the Wireless and WPS buttons.
  • Release the buttons when you notice that the LED blinks red.
  • The router will get restarted and it will take few minutes to complete the process.

NOTE- Router reset does not mean that it will reset the Orbi firmware to the older version. It will only change the settings related to SSID, passwords, IP Address or DNS, etc.

Reset via Web-Based Configuration Utility-

You must have basic knowledge about computers and web-browser to reset your Orbi router using a Web-based configuration utility. You don’t need to download any software or separate tool for resetting.

Take a backup of your data before performing the reset as this reset will delete or change all your settings to default. Follow the steps to perform the reset are:

  1. Enter the IP address (default IP Address is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) in the address bar of your web browser.
  2. Enter the username and password for Orbilogin. (Orbi default password is blank and username is admin).
  3. Now select the Maintenance button.
  4. Then press the Backup Settings option.
  5. Tap the Erase button under factory default settings.
  6. After that, tap the button showing Yes.
  7. Your router will reboot.

After the completion of the steps above, Your router’s configuration will reset to its factory default settings. If you want to log in to its user interface, you will have to use the preset login details.

All Netgear routers do not have the same login credentials. So you must be active about the Orbi login details such as Username, Password, IP Address of your router.
